This fund was established in honor of an incredibly special 2 1/2 year old little boy whose life ended too soon. In an attempt to find meaning in loss, James's fund was established to benefit child-related charities. James lived everyday feeling loved and adored. Our goal with his fund is to spread James's joy and help other children feel the same way. When describing James, we often say he "crushed life". He made every moment more fun. He was fearless and tough, funny and laid back. He never shied away from new things, instead he ran toward them with reckless abandon. He exceeded every expectation we had for our son, and our hearts remain full of love and pride for him. Coach Stout made a lasting and substantial impact on WHS and the surrounding community during that time. The Coach Pete Stout Scholarship is for graduating seniors at Williams High School. The award will be given annually to a WHS senior who has been an active member of a WHS athletic team in any capacity. The student chosen for this award each year will be an active team member, ideally on the Football or Track team, demonstrate financial need and have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and high moral character. The Dr. Charles Kernodle Scholarship was established in 2017 to honor Dr. Kernodle's 100th birthday and his 66 years of service as the doctor on the sidelines of the Walter M. Williams High School Football team by his family, his friends, and the Kernodle Clinic. The award is given annually to a Williams High School senior member of the football team to attend any type of post high school education (university, college, community college or vocational training).
