Special Interest Endowment Funds
Are you committed to supporting the work of a specific nonprofit organization(s) in perpetuity? If so, a Special Interest Endowment may be the fund for you. The Alamance Community Foundation provides a home for permanent funds established for the benefit of nonprofit organizations as a way of providing for their long-term sustainability. Special Interest Endowments return annual distributions to the named organization(s) while the principal continues to grow. A donor establishing a Special Interest Endowment can enjoy the benefit of ACF’s investment policies and practices for funds set aside for long-term investment while ensuring that the beneficiary nonprofit(s) they select continues to receive an annual distribution.
For over 30 years, endowments have been at the heart of ACF’s mission—to grow permanent assets in support of our community—and that makes us a responsible choice for your partner in philanthropy. When establishing a Special Interest Fund that will benefit a specific nonprofit agency, ACF’s professional team works closely with the donor and the nonprofit(s) to establish a fund that will address the organization’s needs today and into the future.
Consider a Special Interest Endowment if:
· You want to support the growth and stability of a specific nonprofit organization (with an IRS 501(c)(3) status) or multiple nonprofit organizations (with 501(c)(3) statuses)
· You seek to provide a source of annual income for that organization(s) in perpetuity
· You would like to ensure long term support of a particular nonprofit but do not want to be engaged with annual gifts and grantmaking
· You want to have the comfort of knowing that the Community Foundation’s variance power will ensure that your gift is forever used for the charitable purpose you intended, even if the initial organization(s) you identify cease(s) to exist
